Education at Centenary is both traditional and progressive. Grounded in the liberal arts, Centenary's Core curriculum embraces courses in the humanities, the natural sciences, the visual and performing arts, and the social sciences. Through inquiry, a student at Centenary develops those diverse skills and habits of mind that characterize the well educated person.
Centenary boasts 43 majors in the arts and sciences as well as a variety of pre-professional programs and academic concentrations, such as pre-law and pre-med. Building on the fundamentals of the Core—reading, writing, speaking, critical thinking, and numeracy—the specialized study within the major places our students within the vanguard of their discipline.
At the same time, the Centenary Plan — an ambitious, experiential co-curricular program — acquaints our students with the practicalities of the workaday world and instills in them the ideal of responsible citizenship within both the local and global community.
With a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio and class sizes that rarely exceed 25, Centenary students receive one-on-one attention from faculty with doctorates from many of our nation's most prestigious institutions.
