Policies for International Students

Centenary welcomes the applications of students from other countries. International students are defined as those candidates for admission who are not citizens of the United States and do not possess a permanent residential visa. Overseas applicants are strongly encouraged to submit application materials well in advance of the posted deadlines (see Freshman and Transfer sections). The College adopts as its official policy for international student admission the guidelines published by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers in its World Education Series.
The Admissions Committee will only review a complete application, which consists of the following items:
A completed application;
A non-refundable application fee of $30;
Originals or certified copies of all high school or secondary school records and diplomas (faxes, advisement and student copies are not official)—Any transcript not in English must be translated and evaluated with our Application for Evaluation of Foreign Educational Credentials or WES Credential Evaluation;
A written response to the application essay;
All students whose native language is not English are required to submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and/or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores. For students submitting TOEFL scores, a minimum score of 550 on the written exam, 79-80 on the Internet-based exam, or 213 on the computer exam is required for admission. For students submitting IELTS scores, a minimum score of 6 in all subtests is required for admission. English speaking students may submit SAT and/or ACT scores. Strong verbal SAT or English ACT scores are required for admission;
An official college transcript mailed directly from each college attended;
A completed Financial Aid and Certification of Finances Application;
At least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, college professor or advisor, but additional sources are also welcomed to provide additional recommendations on the student's behalf;
A completed Report of Medical History and Meningococcal Vaccine Form;(Tuberculosis screening is required even if you have no signs or symptoms of the disease. You must complete this test if you live outside of the Americas, Europe and the Western Pacific Regions, regardless if you have taken the BCG vaccine.)
A clear, legible copy of the photo page of the passport; and
One passport sized photo.
International students may qualify for academic merit scholarships from Centenary. The Committee will evaluate all components of a student's application to determine eligibility.
