Spring Study Series

The 2007 Spring Study Series featuring Dr. Lee Morgan H'96 will take place every Tuesday in March. His topic is The Case for Poetry: A Reprise. He will tackle such questions as “What is poetry?”, “How do you read it?”, and “Why is it necessary?” To sign up, call (318) 869 - 5136 or (318) 869 - 5715. Space is limited, so sign up today!

Lunch and Learn

New this year, Lunch and Learn will follow the morning Study Series sessions. Join alumni, faculty, staff, and students in the cafeteria for lunch and a short educational program. Four weeks, four professors, four topics! No advance reservations required.

Dr. Webb DVD On Sale Now

DVD recordings of Dr. Webb’s series “An Octogenarian’s Muses” are now available. They may be ordered at a cost of $25.00 (all proceeds go to VOA’s The LightHouse). This is a 3-DVD set. Contact Vicky Dodson at Volunteers of America, 360 Jordan, Shreveport, LA 71101 (318) 221-2669.

"Throw Me Somethin', Mistah!" Centenary to Join Highland Mardi Gras Parade

The Alumni Association is planning Centenary's third annual Highland Mardi Gras Parade Day THIS SUNDAY, February 18, 2007 and EVERYONE IS INVITED! Join us on parade day in the Family-Friendly Zone at Jones-Rice Field Sunday, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The parade rolls at 2:00 p.m. and goes right by campus, heading south on Centenary Boulevard (come early to avoid road closures near and around campus). There will be free hot dogs, chips and soft drinks, places to sit, plenty of room for the kids to play, and a great vantage point for watching the parade. Everyone is invited! Want to ride on the Centenary float? Or walk along side? A few spaces are still available - act now: calsando@centenary.edu.

Meadows Museum Openings

The Meadows Museum of Art at Centenary has two Despujols Exhibitions scheduled: Louisiana Collects: Jean Despujols in Cambodia February 11 - March 2 and Louisiana Collects: The Meadows Museum of Art and the Odyssey of Jean Despujols Begin March 25 - June 24.

Centenary Students and NYC Theatre Troupe Present The $trip

The $trip, an original, dramatic production is now showing (February 8 - 11) at Centenary's Marjorie Lyons Playhouse.

The Coach Flaska Radio Show

The Centenary community is once again invited to Buffalo Wild Wings on the Louisiana Boardwalk from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. to take part in the Rob Flaska Show. The show will cover all things Centenary and feature Centenary guests. Present a valid Centenary ID and receive 25% off food purchases! Two remaining dates:

Centenary Football: Forever in the Hearts of Many Alums

'Cotton' Barnes '41 and Ed Whitehurst '39, who played football at Centenary "back in the day," will be featured by KTBS Channel 3 reporter Rick Rowe on the Sunday, February 12th newscast at 10:00 p.m.

Gents vs. LSU at Fairgrouds Stadium - Save the Date!

Save the Date: March 6, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. for this annual match-up. The game will be in Shreveport this year, and there will be a pre-game tailgate party! View the invitation and mark your calendars now. Go Gents!
