Alumni Spotlight: The Bill Bush Combo

The Bill Bush Combo headed by alumnus Bill Bush ‘71/'95 has been invited to perform at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival in Scotland on June 24, 2005. The invitation to perform comes mainly from the current popularity in the United Kingdom of one of Bill's songs, “I'm Waiting,” which he wrote and recorded in 1965. Other members of the Combo include Louis Melancon and James Stewart. Good things come to those who wait—congratulations Bill. We guess, “you're not waiting” for well-deserved recognition anymore. Fellow alums, you don't have to wait or travel to Scotland to hear this talented musical group. The Bill Bush Combo can be seen most Sunday afternoons at Ralph and Kacoos and several nights per month at the Horseshoe. For more information on the Combo and their schedule visit their website at http://www.bbcombo.com .

Paving the Way

Centenary recently began planning for the construction of a fountain in the quad area surrounded by Mickle Hall, Magale Library, and Hamilton Hall. Known as The Leadership Fountain Project, it was proposed and initiated by the students of Centenary's Leadership and Organizational Behavior Classes in the Fall of 2001 and 2003. The project has been on hold since then pending the funding needed for construction. A portion of the budgeted expense dollars has already been raised. Now, the Office of Alumni Relations, with the support of the Frost School of Business, seeks to raise the remainder needed to make the Leadership Fountain a reality by kicking off a Paver Campaign. This new and exciting project offers alumni an opportunity to make a lasting difference on campus. Interested in being a part of Phase I? You are invited to be among the first to buy an engraved paving stone or brick in the walkway or the circular border surrounding the Leadership Fountain.
