We Love Lucy!
We are in Shanghai again! It is currently Thursday morning here and we are all packing up to go home. This has been an AMAZING 2 weeks with an AMAZING group of people. Here is the slideshow from our Wednesday where we pretty much did nothing all day.
So yesterday started with us meeting in the hallway at 4:45 to see the sunrise. We walked all the way to dawn pagoda, waiting for about 20 minutes, saw that the mist got lighter, realized that we weren't going to see the sunrise, and went back to bed. Some of us woke up for the breakfast that was over at 8:30, but the others just slept until we had to head back down the mountain at 10. We all bought ponchos and started down, but for some reason, we had to go up stairs (and a lot of them) in order to go down the mountain. Once we got to the bus, we proceeded quickly down the twisty mountain road, back through the tunnels, and past the crops, farmers, and water buffaloes. We got to lunch and realized that it was our last buffet all together. Some were sad and some were very excited that they would get non-Chinese food soon.
From there, we went back to the hotel we stayed in before heading up the mountain. Will, Ed, Tyler, Andrew and myself decided to spend the 7 hours we had before our flight watching movies. The rest of the group explored the city in the rain. They went downtown, went to a department store, sat in a coffee shop, sat in a bakery, and window shopped in the rain. At 8:30, we headed to the airport to catch our last in-country flight. We were early and our plane didn't leave until 10:40, so we sat there a while. We began boarding at 10:20 and were in the air at 10:36. That was the fastest we had ever taken off.
After a 40-minute flight, we were in the Pudong airport and found Lucy!!! We were so exited because she is our favorite and we based all our other tour guides on her. She said she missed us too and it was a glorious reunion. After traveling on the bus for an hour and talking to Lucy about all the things we had done, we were at our hotel and ready for bed. Some people headed for the 24 hour McDonald's and brought me back food! We are just ready for some good food.
We are now heading home. Thank you all for reading my blog and keeping up with our trip. I will let you know how our 3-hour flight goes. (With the time difference, we leave at 3:30 and get to Atlanta at 6:30) Our flight into Shreveport should get in at 10:30ish pm. YAY FOR HOME! China was awesome and I'm sure you will all hear about it.
Can't wait to see everyone!
Ashley
