Words of Wisdom

Don't procrastinate in college. Just don't do it. It won't turn out well, I promise. This is something I've been struggling with a little bit these days. FYE assignments are not created to be done in one night, as I have discovered. Yet I seem to find myself unavoidably unfocused. There are so many things to do around here that it's hard to make myself just sit down for a couple of hours and work. When I actually accomplish this, like I did last night, I feel the need to really treat myself somehow, whether it be gorging a bit on the tub of cookie dough that is residing in my refridgerator, or going to sonic and grabbing a nice strawberry limeade, it's a ritual that is necessary. I'm sorry to say that I seem to procrastinate on just about everything now. Even this blog. But there is hope. I'm starting to slowly discover what helps me to concentrate a little more. For example, I cannot study or do any kind of work in my room. Either the room is too messy for me to pay attention or there are just too many distractions, like music, books, roommates (even though I love mine), and random objects on my desk. So I've started going down to the lobby of my dorm, sitting down at a table, and just going to work until I'm done. This has been working pretty well, and I'm quite pleased with the results. I definitely suggest finding yourself a study spot, somewhere you can just settle in and work. It really becomes useful.

On a lighter note, the campus festivities for Halloween have been pretty fun. I went to the Halloween Hoopla Wednesday night, and I left thoroughly amused. Fun and games all over the place, it was like a miniature carnival. One of my favorite parts was watching some of my friends get called down to the basketball court to play games.

It was an all-around good time. I highly recommend it in the future.

Another event that I highly recommend is the Centenary Choir's annual concert, Rhapsody. It's coming up this weekend, November 3rd and 4th. I hope to see a full house! It's really going to be a great performance. This is a big event for the choir and all of our alumni. I'm not quite sure what to expect, seeing as it's my first Rhapsody, but I've heard only good things! I'll be sure to post pictures of it all in my next blog.

While I'm on the topic of choir, I should probably close up this blog. I've got a rehearsal in an hour and a half and I still have to go buy earrings for our performance! Sorry this wasn't the most eventful blog, but hey, what can I say? It happens.
