Top 10 Exciting Things Happening at Centenary!
So, instead of letting you all know how stressed I am about finals, how I should probably be studying right now, and what I did over the weekend I am going to give you my run-down of the "Top 10 Exciting Things Happening at Centenary!"
10. The leaves are changing on the trees! This is quite possibly one of my favorite times of year at Centenary because it is truly gorgeous everywhere on campus. The leaves are turning from green to beautiful shades of orange and red.
9. Our annual candlelight service in Brown Chapel! December 7th was the official kick-off to the holiday season at Centenary. People of all different faiths from the community and Centenary gathered together to hear the choir sing beautifully (as usual) and to join together in celebrating the holidays.

8. Finals Time! Ok, so that really isn't exciting at all, but it deserves to be in the top ten list.
It's ridiculous how studious I look.

Mary does not like studying...it was a long night!

Naana posing for the camera (while studying, of course!).

7. Photo shoot time! About once a semester Centenary sets up a photo shoot to take pictures of current students to put on just about everything that is sent out, which includes: Orientation pamphlets, course catalogues, calendars, and everything else you can think of. I love to look at the pictures and see what crazy props people brought to represent them. You should definitely check the pictures out!

6. Centenary is turning 100! Starting in the Spring semester we are going to have events all semester celebrating Centenary's 100th birthday. This semester we get to open up the mysterious time capsule (located between Brown Chapel and the library) and also participate in "The Big Event!" which is being put on by SGA. This semester is going to be really exciting, check out the schedule of events!
5. Fighting Squirrels is officially in crunch mode. Craig Robinson (from The Office and Knocked Up) is coming on January 26th and we are finalizing donations, stage and lighting, as well as learning more than we wanted about marketing. Everyone on Fighting Squirrels is sooo excited about Craig coming, we are also getting closer to finalizing a band to come to campus in April...unfortunately that is top secret and I can't tell you anything about that. Be sure to get your tickets to Craig Robinson!
4. Zeta Winter Formal! We just had a big awards banquet for Zeta and one of my good friends from home, Ryan, flew in from Colorado to go to formal with me! I had such a fun time giving Ryan the complete tour of Shreveport and introducing him to all of my friends. Formal was a lot of fun and everyone looked amazing!

3. Surprise Christmas party for 2nd graders! Over the past few months the Zetas have been collecting toys, stockings, and school supplies for Mrs. Katie Barkley Loomis' (Centenary graduate and ZTA alum) 2nd grade classroom. We put together giant gift bags for all of the students and they were in complete shock! These children were so thankful to have us there and were incredibly thankful for every new pencil, baby doll, and Spider Man action figure that they received! We all gathered to take a picture and while we were lining up the whole class taught us the "Soulja Boy" dance.
2. Holiday time with friends! A group of my close friends decided to do a Secret Santa gift exchange this year among one another. We had an absolute blast together and my Secret Santa got me a really cute pair of rain boots!
Jenn was really excited about her present!

We were trying to take one of those serious family photos, which ended up being a lot more difficult than expected.

1. Skeeter!! We have officially elected a mascot, the catahoula and have the cutest dog to represent Centenary! His name is Skeeter and was adopted from an animal shelter in Houston just to be the newest member of the Centenary family. We are still keeping the "Ladies and Gents" as our official name, but Skeeter will be the actual mascot for the school.
