Back to my Favorite Place in the World!

Hey everybody! Even though this is my last semester of college and I should be able to hang out with friends, have a lot of fun, and just enjoy being a senior, I have had more work to do then ever! Luckily I was able to have an amazing holiday break and spend some time at home relaxing before this crazy semester began. I'm going to back track a little bit and let you know about my favorite place in the world...Colorado!

As soon as finals were over, my multiple suit cases were packed (I never know what to pack!), and my car was all "gassed-up" and ready to begin my 16 hour drive to Colorado for the holidays. I ended up driving home instead of the usual method of flying to bring back some of the crazy things that I have accumulated since I have been at Centenary. It's amazing to me how much stuff I had stored at my grandparent's house. Just a bit of advice before I go any further, the less stuff you have in the beginning the better you will be in the end, trust me!

Anyways, back to driving home, I headed on my trek across Texas, up through New Mexico, and then to the beautiful state of Colorado. I am the type of driver that only stops for gas, I like to just get in the car and go, no stopping, I focus on driving and being in the zone. I ended up driving about 12 hours my first day because there was a blizzard headed right through Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico that I was trying to beat. I ended up stopping in Raton, New Mexico, which is a relatively small town about 15 miles from the Colorado border. The scenery was absolutely amazing and beautiful along the drive, even though there is absolutely nothing to look at in West Texas, talk about boring!

I finally made it home and when I got there it was about 20 degrees and I was freezing to death! As soon as I get home during the winter time I think that my body goes into shock and has to re-acclimate because it is not used to the cold. My lips immediately chap, my skin gets dry, and the freezing temperatures go right through me! But, I absolutely love it! I don't have a lot of chances to go home because most of my friends don't have the same breaks as me, or the breaks just seem too short to really be able to go home and relax, so when I do have the chance I definitely cherish it and take in every moment.

When I first got home my parents, two brothers, and myself went to dinner and caught up with each other. My brother Bryan is a junior at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and my other brother Braden is a sophomore in high school; it was really good to see them and to just hang out with the family. After dinner I was bombarded with phone calls from friends and went to go visit with people. I think that the thing that I love most about my friends from home is that we can not talk for months and then when we get together it is like we just talked yesterday.

Around 10 P.M. that night the blizzard start rolling in and it seemed like it didn't stop snowing for about three days! My car was covered in snow, we couldn't open our garage because there was a six foot snow drift, and I live in a cul-de-sac so it never gets plowed, we were officially snowed in!

My friend Kevin's parents just bought an old bar/restaurant and completely re-did the place so I ended up spending a lot of time there with amazing friends from home!

After hanging at home for a bit, Lindsay Ezell (a senior at Centenary) came to visit me and rode back with me to Louisiana. She came to visit me two years ago with my other friend Lindsey Sheppard who we were going to meet in Durango. We had a few days to do stuff in Denver so we tried to hit all of the hot spots. We went to one of my favorite places to ski, Copper Mountain, Kevin's bar, and the Coors beer factory. We also went shopping for ski outfits and hung-out in Denver in Boulder with my friends from home.

After hanging out in Denver for a few days we packed up my car and headed to Durango to go hang out with two of our good friends and Centenary alums that recently moved to Durango, Jeff and Emily Stotts. The drive there was absolutely gorgeous and scary! At one point the roads were completely covered in ice and it was white-out conditions, meaning that the only thing that I could barely see were the car lights in front of me. It was definitely an interesting drive but, we made it there after going through two blizzards, white-out conditions, and driving through one road that had just re-opened because it was so dangerous to drive on.

The whole group in Durango before we head back to Shreveport.

After spending another few days in Durango, Paul, Lindsay, Lindsey, and myself started our 18 hour drive back to Shreveport. It was pretty uneventful the whole way, which was a pleasant surprise from the drive down to Durango. Now I am back and school and completely bogged down with homework, tests, and so many other things. I'll update you all with everything happening at Centenary, get excited!

Talk to you later!
