Love from the La Quinta Lobby
Since Wednesday, I have been in Ft. Worth at TCU for a tennis tournament. This tournament is called the Southwest Regionals or something like that. Anyway, it's kind of a big deal. It is a huuuuuuuuuuge tournament with hundreds of players from all over like Rice, A&M, UT, Texas Tech, UTA, UTEP, UTPA, SHSU, Baylor, and pretty much every big school you can think of. It's pretty cool to watch the tennis here, it's amazing. I was also pretty psyched because my sister ran into a guy we used to play tennis with in the summer and we had not seen him in years. There are so many players that they have to do two different draws, a qualifying draw and then the main draw which is full of the best tennis players in the country. Kristina, Lindsday, Courtney and I were all in the qualifying and we all played pretty well but lost so we are done with singles. However my sister was in the main draw so she got to play the number one seed, who is also top five in the nation! She got a game off her which is awesome. It probably looks like we really suck at tennis, but you have to understand that these girls are AMAZING and super talented. We still have doubles tonight, and my sister has singles and doubles tomorrow with her partner Kristina. The boys started today, but we got to sleep in today so I'm not sure how they're doing.
Anyway, it feels like I live in this La Quinta! But we are having fun, as always. We made a deal with our coach that whoever wins the most games in the tournament wins a prize, which he would determine what the prize was. He came up with the idea that since we were at TCU and their mascot was the horned frogs, the winner would get a frog! So on a break yesterday we went and found little rubber frogs. It's pretty exciting! Up until today we have been super busy all day warming up, and playing matches, and buying sweats! I did not know that it was going to get cold so I was definitely unprepared. I did not bring any pants or jackets. I was pretty bitter because usually I over pack like crazy and this time I was so proud of myself because i didn't. Oh well, i got some awesome sweats from Wal-Mart. Since we have some down time today I have to study because I have two tests next week which I need to do well on to bring my grade up in Business Law.
I'm pretty bummed that we are going to miss the Initiation of Sarah (an ABC Family movie airing Sunday night that was filmed on Centenary's campus this summer), I was looking forward to seeing everyone I knew in it. Oh well, us beig here til Sunday means that we are winning, which clearly is a good thing.
Anyway, I'll leave you with my favorite quote of the weekend from my coach:
"Winners win, it's what we do."
Jenn
