It’s Cold, Y’all…
Everyone wore jackets and sweaters today. It was in the upper forties outside. Inside Mickle, however, it was burning up. The air conditioners were broken and my first class (tap, tap, tap) is on the third floor. We opened one window, which brought down the temperature to something close to the heat wave Europe just experienced. It suited our French class just fine. I’m really not that picky when it comes to the lack of air conditioning, because my high school had none. Yep, it was hot, but it was also one of those “tradition” things.
It has been crazy here. I hope I’m not reaching my limits. I just got back from my home state yesterday and I am thoroughly tired of driving. Don’t get me wrong, I love motoring it up, but sometimes too much is just too much. You see some crazy things when you’re on the road. I saw a cow-crossing sign for the first time ever near Plain Dealing. I saw about 300 thousand or so people with mullets. Also, these casinos in gas stations freak me out. I’m not quite sure, but I’m terrified of them.
So what did I do in Arkansas? I caught up with friends, old co-workers, and (*cough) my family too, of course. I really love all my friends, the new and the old. It’s a mess being away from home, but you know I was really ready to come back. There’s a unique atmosphere here when I’m not too stressed out.
There’s good news at the radio station. I was just promoted to be “the intern.” Whoo, how exciting does that sound? Well mainly I just try and help out when someone needs something. I don’t get paid in dollars, but it helps my major. We have some cool shows coming up too. Jason Anderson should be in town in about two weeks and I’ve heard he’s really awesome.
Mondays, I tell you. I wonder who decided to put them at the beginning of the week. Ha, I love the way we all dread them so much. This contagious dread for fear of week-starting. My Mondays are nice. I have four short classes and then I sit in the shade and do homework. My last class makes me happy. There’s always someone that sneezes and almost immediately there are twenty “Bless you’s” circling the room. I love it. It makes my day to see so many people caring. I know that it’s just manners and nothing really important, but I like to think that it affects us all someway. Someway positive.
Gesundheit,
JonnyBoy
