The Working Man... Once Upon a Time...
So I’m watching one of my favorite movies – Pay it Forward. I love the soundtrack. It’s so varied. There’s upbeat motivational stuff, and there’s emotional sad stuff as well. It's one of the few movies that leaves me smiling from ear to ear every single time I watch it.
So here’s an update on my work situation; I’m only going to work one day a week – to see if I might be able to handle working more later on. I doubt I will, but I still get to keep my employee discount and I still get to be in that community. It’s neat the stories I get into with other Starbucks partners in other cities. Really interesting.
I’m also going to fit in work/study next semester which should only run about ten hours a week. This, however, will give me an incentive to do my work, because I’ll have some time on my hands when I’m not busy. That’s I guess the whole point of work/study. Anywho, I’m hoping to work in Turner (the art building). Mary Sue (Financial Aid) said she could prolly get me the hook-up.
It was really nice not working this weekend. I’ve had time to hang out with people and do some school work. I saw 'The Fountain' on Friday night. On Saturday I woke early (at 8 am) to record at the radio station. Allison and I recorded a small program called “Just So You Know.” We recorded Dr. Beth Leuck (of Biology). She talked about all the development on Youree. It’s really bad. Several different types of animals are losing their homes and ending up with nowhere to go. We don’t know just how and when to play the recording, but it’s all good – we did it and I’m sure I’ll play it during my next show. You know, throw in some NPR flavor every once in a while. I added some music to it to make it even more NPRish and I’m pretty stoked – to say the least. Belle and Sebastian.

That’s an arial view of the land on Youree before all the development. Right now most of the green field on the right is covered with concrete (including the Starbucks at which I work). Soon there will only be two small strips of land left in this area. There are no more trees and there’s going to be a lot more car pollution as more and more people go shopping in the new JCPenny’s. I like JCPenny’s. It’s just sad that we stick it to the Muscrat – so to say.
There’s some big news at the radio station too. We just got an upgrade. One that we have been apparently talking about for ten years. We are now broadcasting citywide and more. This upgrade means a lot for KSCL and the whole campus. We are now broadcasting basketball games and planning other ventures for the near future. It’s really exciting to be a Freshman while all this is happening.
I’ll talk more later on this week as the world goes on doing its normal thing. This week we study for next week. Next week is finals week. Then a break and new classes. w00t!

Oh – I thought I would share this with you as well. It’s a picture of a cheer that the razorback fans do at games. This is from the LSU – Ark game last week. We lost, but oh well. However, we might be going to the Capital bowl. That might be cool.
Woo pig SOOEEE!
Jonny
