Everyone Must Be Allergic to Peanuts
And You Know It’s a New Plane When There Aren’t Any “No Smoking” Signs
My goodness. It seems like a year since Mardi Gras. I went to Connecticut. It was my first trip to the north. We got a whole week off for Mardi Gras so I had to find someplace to stay. I stayed with my sister in Little Rock for the first four days. Then, sometime on Sunday it hit me that I should buy a plane ticket to New Haven, CT.
You ask why? Well, one of my high school buddies goes to Yale. So, I was like, “schucks! Yale! Might as well.” So I bought a plane ticket on priceline. Crazy what debit cards + the internet can do. Gosh, and it's so fast to get to the other side of the country. It only requires money, which I lack currently because of the trip.
It was soooooo cold in New Haven. I practically wore my whole wardrobe to keep from freezing to death. I have never been so cold.
The campus was pretty awesome. Centenary’s pretty small comparatively. With all thoes big old buildings, I got to pretend I was Harry Potter–save the wand and cloak, but who needs those anyway? I had to sneak into the dining halls to get food. We had to go to a different one each time (Yale has several) to keep from being caught.
The best part about the trip was probably (and I hate to say it) the traveling. See…I really really hate traveling, except for one thing – you meet so many different people. Like this lady that sat next to me on my first flight. She didn’t know what an iPod was. And then a guy that wanted to get to Philadelphia, but couldn’t because of all the snow. And there were people standing on frozen lakes. And there were frozen lakes! And this crazy cab driver. Then my friend’s friends at Yale. And their friends. And friends of friends of friends. It’s crazy. My point? Well…sometimes you feel so connected to society because it has become so ordinary. You don’t leave one place for a while and you forget about the rest of the world. And all of those people out there are allergic to peanuts now too (apparently), because I kept getting pretzels on the plane.
It’s just really cool to see all of these other people out there doing the same stuff as you, but you never really meet them. It just seems crazy, no? But I think this spontaneous roll is awesome. New Orleans in a day. New Haven in a day. What’s left? Well, there will definitely be concerts in faraway lands, so Maybe Dallas (3 hrs). And then San Fran(>3 hrs). I’ll just need the money for all these travels.
Cheers,
JonnyBoy
