CS-Ohhh! Retreat and Other Weekend Activities
Every Sunday night I vow to spend the following weekend relaxing and doing homework (oxymoron?). Every Friday night however, homework is the last thing on my mind and hanging out with friends is the first. Then, Sunday rolls by again and I’m in the same “It seems like I didn’t get anything done, including sleep, this weekend” position. This past weekend of course followed suit, but I’m pretty okay with it because it was wonderful.
Friday night I managed the RLC (Religious Life Center). It was pretty much the easiest $25 dollars I ever made since dinner was paid for and I hung out with friends all night, watching movies and “The Office.” For a while Lauren and I were the only girls and so all the boys voted our girl movies out. They wanted to watch one of Ben’s “guy movies.” The movie from the “guy movies” collection that we watched ended up being none other than The Princess Bride. Now pause. The guy movie contains both the word “princess” and the word “bride.” I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page. I had never seen it, but came to the conclusion that it was pretty funny but definitely overrated in my opinion.
Saturday was the CSO (Catholic Student Organization) Retreat. Now, I’ve made mention of the Centenary Time Warp before, but I really felt it Saturday morning more than ever. Having been at the RLC until 2:30 the previous night (or that same morning), our noon meeting time seemed very unreasonable. Still, I made it looking my best (well sort of). We had lunch at a bakery/café that I cannot remember the name of right now. The service wasn’t fantastic (maybe it’s best that I don’t remember the name) but the food was pretty good. We then went to the Catholic Center and played icebreaker games, prayed, and hung out. (See the pictures below)
Team #1...They ended up winning but we knocked their tower down all the same :)

Team #2...Notice how in to the project I am...control issues maybe?

The whole group!

Around 4:30 we came back to campus to get ready for dinner and the symphony. We ate at a Japanese Restaurant that was really good and reasonably priced (again I don’t remember the name). I of course spilled on my cute blue dress in true Michelle fashion, but it wasn’t that bad so I got over it. We then went to the Symphony, which was pretty great. There were of course times that I laughed inappropriately (during the song of “Praise God and Pass the Ammunition” for example) and I tripped in my high heels a couple times, but overall it was really fun. Another elevator picture...though I seem pretty excited about this one

Everyone dressed up nice for the symphony

After the symphony we went back to the Catholic Center and did more retreat-ish stuff. Father Peter joined us and even took a MySpace style picture for us. We told corny jokes and ate cookies and watched Trey perform the most amazing magic tricks I’ve ever seen (they are seriously unbelievable). It was a great time and I had a lot of fun. Sunday was another late morning. I am an intern (CLC) for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and so I had Middle School Youth from 3 to 4:30. I had Church from 5 to 6. And I had High School Youth from 6 to 8. It was a very busy day but really fun to hang out with the youth and be part of a community. There was also free home cooked food, which is always welcome!!
I hope that fall break is just that…a break…in the fall. Have a great day and stay tuned!
