TKEs and Square Dancing and Parents...Oh My!
(Sarah Duet, :) )
The last two weeks have been absolutely CRAZY!! Don’t worry though; I have approximately four minutes and forty-three seconds, forty-two seconds, forty-one seconds (keep counting to yourself) to take a break from my homework and tell you about them.
First of all, the last time we spoke (just a figure of speech) was during Freak Week. Well that turned out to be a good bit of fun. I went to the Slam Poet on Monday night, which was interesting. I was a little bit nervous because I had never seen a Slam Poet and I often get fits of inappropriate giggles during awkward or serious times. I fought them off however, and the poet was actually very good.
Tuesday night I had other things to do and chose not to participate but I’m sure the CAB activities for that night were fun. Wednesday night was Halloween night (spooky I know) and there was a mini-carnival in the Gold Dome. Now while I was expecting an actual basketball game (because that’s what the flyers led me to believe) the night’s activities were actually pretty fun. There was lots of free food and candy and snow cones and caramel apples and cotton candy and water. (see pictures below)
I look awkward here because I didn't exactly know what to do with my hands...do we go for the shoulder hug pose or the stranger pose. Alas we chose the stranger pose but it was still really cute.

Our floating pumpkins (crawfish) booth!

The Gents playing...the Gents. Don't worry, we won!

Susan and I with a ghost! Spooky!

Lindsey and Ben being Lindsey and Ben.

After the carnival we (my posse and I) went to the Cline Haunted House. A certain member of my posse clung to my shoulders the entire time and so I was unable to truly be scared because I was laughing so hard at her, I mean with her. It was pretty impressive though, so kudos to the RA’s.
Thursday night was Grey’s night and the making of Lauren and my costumes for the following night. We went to seven stores in two hours and only had to double back to Wal-Mart once for things we forgot the first time.
We worked on our graveyard costumes pretty diligently and I think they came out pretty good for being free hand. We decided to be the board game “Apples to Apples,” Lauren being the green and me being the red. We realized that they would have been even cuter if more people actually knew what “Apples to Apples” was. (see pictures below)
Working on the shirts...

Still working on the shirts...

The next night was the TKE graveyard party (cue our unknown costumes), which was Oh So Much Fun! The highlight of my night was definitely the last couple of songs including “Shake It Up Baby (Twist and Shout)” and “Total Eclipse of the Heart” (which is actually the longest song known to man, because you think it ends like five times and then it comes back with another “turn around”). I think its funny that many of you probably think I am being sarcastic and that they really didn’t play those songs, but they did. (see pictures below)

Chrissy and I...

Thomas' hair dye is leaking and I thought it was funny.

Perhaps the funniest picture ever: (maybe not though)

Sunday night I worked at my CLC internship (St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church) and it was Western Night for the high school youth. Oh my goodness: SO MUCH FUN!! Talk about a change in dancing styles from Friday night to Sunday night. I have some pictures, but as most of the kids are in high school and I don’t know how their parents would feel about me posting their pictures here, you’ll have to use your imagination. (smiley face) (see pictures below)
Square Dancing fun...

He was soooo into it, it was great.

Last week was definitely not as exciting. There were a few highlights such as going to President Schwab’s house for dessert with my FYE class and listening to Christian Activist Shane Claiborne, but overall it was a very busy week.
This past weekend, my parents were nice enough to come visit me in good ole Shreveport. We had a nice shopping experience in the rain on the Boardwalk Saturday afternoon and saw Lions for Lambs that night. The movie was exceptionally good though very political, and extremely tense. I look forward to seeing American Gangster over Thanksgiving break, which cannot come soon enough.
Well it’s been like 8 minutes now and most of you have stopped reading so I’m going to go. As always, thanks for reading and watch out for those campus squirrels: they are crazy vicious.
