10 Things I've Noticed About You

I’m pretty excited that you’ve returned to my blog. It doesn’t even matter to me that you are here because you are avoiding more important items on your list of things to do. I also recognize that you’ve either already been to visit facebook in this procrastination session or you are over the facebook age limit and this is your only source of healthy internet stalking. In any case, welcome.

Now I know what all handful of you are probably thinking: Michelle, why haven’t you posted a worthwhile blog in the last couple of weeks. Well, I don’t have a good answer for you only a promise to do better in the future. Scouts honor (though I was never any kind of scout and so I don’t know if my promise is an honorable thing).
Now I could tell you all about my vacation and my first couple weeks back but I don’t really want to. I had a great time hung out with some cool friends and now school is super busy.

I thought I would take the time to give everyone an insiders view to life at Centenary College. These are my top ten favorite/ idiosyncratic things about Centenary and campus life:

1. Creepy basements in almost every building on campus.

2. The beautiful campus…it makes being inside on gorgeous days just impossible. Our campus is amazing; there are no questions about it.

3. The side walks that go everywhere except where you need to be…I especially love the ones that wash away with the rain. Got to have you some rubber boots!!

4. Our undefeated football team. (it never gets old) We beat LSU back in the day though…food for thought.

5. Computer labs pretty much everywhere you go. You wouldn’t believe how much they come in handy. Just make sure it has paper and you aren’t accidentally in a computer class…I embarrassed myself last week. Sorry Jackson Lab!

6. The updated pictures of current students on the website.

7. How many people are shocked to find out there is a second floor of the library. Where did you think the other set of stairs went? (It’s my favorite study spot by the way.)

8. The beautiful but random art on campus. It just kind of sneaks up on you sometimes.

9. Awkward eye contact/no eye contact split second decisions: One of the things I love about Centenary is that you often run into people you know on campus and have little nothing conversations like “Hey how are you…Good and you…etc” You may even hear other people say that this is one of their favorite things about Centenary and I’m almost positive I saw it in a brochure before coming. What they don’t tell you however, is that it can be very awkward when you run into people you don’t know. I’m a big eye contact/smile kind of girl and I’ve come to realize that other people are not. So what ends up happening is I stare down and smile at someone who is avoiding all contact with me, then I look like the creepy smiley girl. I mean its not that big a deal, just pick your head and look at me.

10. People going work out in the fitness center take the elevator up to the gym instead of walking up the stairs. Granted the elevator is closer but I mean if you are there to work out why wouldn’t you just go a little further to the stairs? I mean its your own choice and I’m sure everyone is busy but just think about it next time…I mean really do you have some calorie-burning-limit?
Food for thought. Food for thought.

Stay tuned for Mardi Gras pictures.
