A Big Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras didn’t just happen this year, it happened big!
It began with my first solo road trip to the great city of New Orleans. There I stayed with my sister Ashlie and other Centenary-Alumni-who-must-not-be-named. Their house was pretty much awesome and right near the parade route. It is complete with a basement (which I did not go into because I was frightened by the three locks on the door…really?) and a butler stair case. (see pictures below)
Michelle as the butler:

The parades were really fun, but kind of crowded. Granted it was New Orleans, but people are still entitled to their bubbles. We caught sooo many beads it was ridiculous. No, like it was really ridiculous because now we just have all these beads lying around.
Right behind the Fleur de Lis is Kevin Costner, the King of that Parade...we were walking and he was moving, and this is the best I could do. He was there though I promise!

Ashlie and Me at the parade:

One of the floats that stopped in front of us for a while:

Ashlie thought it would be funny to take pictures of me picking up the trash in our area. I just couldn't take it, there were pieces of plastic wrap and boxes everywhere!!

I decided to go back to Lafayette for actual “Fat Tuesday” and hang out with my family and friends and my personal space bubble. We had a full day with three parades and a lot of walking up and down Johnston Street.

The beginning of the parade...and the end:

We then had a very exciting time at the fair where I held everyone’s stuff while they risked their lives and the “Spin You Until You Die” rides. I did go down the “big slide” as I do every year and pretty much had the time of my life. Good safe fun people, that’s all I’m saying.
Cajun Field...

Three of my favorite people - Maddy, Lori, and Ali!

My new favorite picture...awaiting the doom of the Freak Out:

The Freak Out at Rest:

The next day was of course Ash Wednesday and the girls (best friends from high school) and I went to our old elementary school, Sts. Leo Seton Catholic (then Sts. Leo Seton Elementary) for mass and visiting. After that we had lunch together and then all departed for our separate schools in separate cities. I realize that was a bit of random, not wholly useful information, but it sure sets up my pictures nicely.

All of us right before we left for school again:

That’s it for now!
