Fall Break 2007!
As I said on my last blog, I got to see my girlfriend during fall break. It was pretty much amazing. I took all sorts of preparations for my trip down to the Big Easy. Preparations consisted mainly of doing most of my homework ahead of time (and by ahead of time, I mean like two weeks before it was all due) and packing my bags since Monday night even though I left on Wednesday.
Sadly, I don’t have a car of my own, so I find myself in the need of the my friends for rides in order to mobilize. This time around, I hitched a ride with my good friend Kirsten Lorio. We had a great time on the ride down, and we got to catch up on life. After the long ride down, I met up with one of my old high school friends, Luis Laitano. He usually lets me stay at his place whenever I have a break, and we always have an awesome time. We ended up playing video games till 5 am. This time around, it was Halo 3 games till late in the evening.
Anyway, the best part about fall break was being able to see my girlfriend, Marcela. I mentioned her in my previous blog. We’ve been dating for 15 months, but I hadn’t seen her since the day I flew up to Shreveport for classes. It was so amazing to hang out with her again. She was staying at her aunt’s in New Orleans, along with her mom and her brother. We got to hang out a lot, mostly while I tagged along as her mom and aunt ran their errands. It was cool though. We went to the Riverwalk and got to window shop. Of course, I ended up being the one that carried the bags back to the car, but that’s ok. I would have felt bad if the ladies had to carry their own bags back, so I volunteered to do it.
Marcela and I got the chance to catch up on stuff and had an awesome time having dinner at her aunt’s house on Friday night. We bonded and chitchatted over the delightfully delicious cuisine we purchased at Wendy’s drive thru. We had Baconators, and got to talk about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. Mostly we just sat their and said “I love you” a lot. I enjoyed it immensely. We played Guitar Hero after that, seeing how her brother just got an XBox 360.
Speaking of Marcela’s brother, Oscar is actually one of my best high school friends. We graduated together from the same high school. He and I both crashed at Luis’s house while I was there, so we could all play Halo 3 on XBox Live. It was fun.
By the time Sunday rolled around, I was so NOT ready to say goodbye. I miss my friends from high school, we always have an awesome time together, despite the fact that I tend to be on the receiving end of most jokes. Mostly I missed my girlfriend and letting her go when I knew that I wasn’t going to see her again for two months was one of the hardest things I had done in a while. But it’s ok. She’s fantastic, and I love her. I can’t wait till Christmas, when I get to see her again.
So, that was fall break. And it was amazing. Besides fall break, it’s been a quiet couple of weeks. School keeps me busy most of the time, and the few spare hours I have, I devote to work, homework, SGA or Theta Chi.
Speaking of Theta Chi, one of our alumnus brothers, Brandon Walker, is coming into town tonight, and will be staying at the Theta Chi house for the next couple of weeks. That’s bound to be fun. Anyway, that’s life for me. Thanks for stopping by.
Later,
Marco
PS: If you're wondering why I have no pictures this time around, it's because I forgot my camera in the dorms. It was sad...
