Hello all! Hope Easter Break treated you well. Jacob (brother), Zach (boyfriend), and I decided to stretch ours a bit. We left early Tuesday for California. My dad has an apartment out there so my family all went for the week. Apparently we came during the worst weather ever and it was still gorgeous. His place is in Carlsbad, so we also went to La Jolla and San Diego.
His complex is amazing and has a gorgeous view of the city skyline and the ocean. It also has a huge pool, hot tub, and grill and patio area, so a couple of nights we all just hung out there. We also visited the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld.
It sounds ridiculous but the malls are amazing. Because the climate is so pleasant the mall was outside. Kind of like the Boardwalk but two stories and about ten times bigger.
We also visited the huge flower fields, strawberry fields, and the beaches. We didn't swim because the water was freezing. We went over to his boss' house one night and found a gorgeous church by the ocean for Easter. The best part is I took pictures!
Jacob decided to put his college education to use and map out a game plan at SeaWorld. He insisted we all take copies of the map and circle the shows in order. My little, Rebekah, was questioning him the whole time.

My dad and I at SeaWorld.

Okay so probably one of my favorite parts of the trip. Easter Sunday afternoon we went to La Jolla which is a gorgeous, very expensive town on the beach. There is shopping of course, but also a cave that takes you to a cove in the ocean, parks, and sea lions and walruses that live wild there. One minute, we are all down on the beach (it was freezing remember?) and Jacob is walking with Mom fully dressed. The next minute he is in a swimsuit splashing around in the waves. The waves were pretty strong and splashing high. He convinced Rebekah to just "stand on that rock, the water will go around you...you won't get wet!" So of course Rebekah (in silk capris and a tank top) climbs on the rock and of course water comes crashing all over her! Jacob threw her in just to make sure she was completely soaked.

Fortunately, she was a really good sport about it!

Well darn, I was planning on singing Outkast's "Bombs Over Baghdad" while walking through security!
This did not even begin to cover the trip but all in all let's just say it was amazing — very relaxing and great to catch up with family. I hope yours was the same!
Yours
Rach
