I Beat a Division One Golfer!...Well, Kind of

It has been quite an eventful week here at Centenary College for me.

Okay first I would like to update you on the Religion and Culture midterm. We got them back and I did great so needless to say I was pretty excited. Dr. Otto's exact phrase in the e-mail was "Congrats! Great work! Kudos to you! Go celebrate!" So...Hooray!

Second is Stepping Stones. It is an awesome weekly worship service we have at 11:10 AM on Tuesdays in Brown Chapel. If you do not come, you should check it out. Y'all know I am a religious studies major, and I actually want to be a pastor (probably a college chaplain). I volunteered to speak at Stepping Stones when they needed me, and so Tuesday was my first time which was exciting! My family is so dorky, my mom actually surprised me and came (we live in town). Anyhow, so that was a first.

So in case you have not already figured it out, I am not really athletic. I danced and cheered in high school and if the elliptical was an Olympic sport, I would have been in the time trials by now. But as far as contact sports? Not so much. So, many blogs ago I talked about going to watch my friends on the golf team and making a complete idiot of myself - remember? I have since begun to learn to play golf and am confident that if I attend another tournament, I could be a respectable spectator.

(At this point it would probably be appropriate to also mention that a select few of the golfers refused to speak to me for about a week because I told them (and still maintain) that golf is not a sport. A pastime, a hobby, an activity, yes, but a sport? Not quite. Anyhow they have all since resumed speaking to me and the one who initiated the whole silent treatment? Yeah, we are dating. :) )

So anyways, Zach is teaching me how to play golf basically because I saw a really pretty set of clubs and I decided any game where you can buy cute clothes and equipment to play...count me in. But no, I mean as much as I never thought I would say it, I really do like to play.

Sorry I am talking in circles I know. The weather here has been absolutely gorgeous lately, so we have been going on Sundays. I always knew my hand-eye coordination was not very good, but I have recently learned that it is nonexistent. The highlight of the first trip was actually hitting the balls. The second trip, I was having a lot of trouble driving, so Zach was trying to teach me the correct form and um...I ended up whacking him in the head (and he still hangs out with me!). This last time though I have to say, was excellent. I mean, in a few years I could be giving Michelle Wie a run for her money! Totally kidding. But no, I made contact with the balls the majority of the time, I did not hit Zach in the head, and I scored better than him. So he did not count half my shots, but you know, we don't have to tell that part. I took a few pictures this time so here they are:

I actually did not know he took this picture. I have to concentrate pretty hard to make contact can you tell?

Anyhow, hope you guys have a great week!

Yours,

Rachel
