It's Midterm Time

Hey everybody, it's been a while, have you missed me? I hope all is well. These last few weeks have been crazy and load with fun, excitement, and even a little stress. Now I know you want to know what craziness took place...so, I'll tell you.

Two weekends ago was parents weekend here at Centenary, and it was loaded with events for parents and students to enjoy. My mom came into town for the weekend and on Friday night we watched the womens soccer team destroy Nicholls State 4-0. The next day we went to a softball game in the morning and a volleyball game in the afternoon. On Saturday evening, since my mom loves the theater, we went to see the theater department's production "On the Verge." If you go to Centenary and did not get to see this, you missed out on a real treat. The play was amazing, with lots of laughs and a great cast. Freshman Scott Gibbs stole the show; this man can act! If you are a perspective student, Centenary put on great theater productions through out the year, so make sure you see some, if not all of them, because they really do a great job.

Last week intramural football got underway and I have the honor to play for CHOR athletics, the choir football team. (If you look at Caitlin Kennedy's last blog, you'll see some great pictures of the CHOR!) So far we are 4-1 and tied for second place. Right now the team MVP honor would have to go to my man Dave "The Chosen One" Hopson, that's right the choir director himself. This man is an athlete and scores touchdowns left and right. (Now I don't know why he's called the chosen one, but it's a nickname the choir gave him, so I think it's cool) So if you're coming here to sing next year, just know, this choir does more than just sing! And if you read this today, we have a game tonight at 9, so come out and have some fun at itramurals.

Parents weekend was great, and intramurals has been tons of fun, but this week had been midterm weekend here at Centenary and although I just finished taking all my midterms, it was tough! But the best feeling is completion, now that I'm finished, it feels good to relax and know that I have no major tests until finals!

Finally, official practice starts this Friday for basketball, so the preseason workout are over and the season is finally here; it's time to get serious and focused so we can bring you guys and exciting year, with way more wins than last year. We have Halloween Hoopla on October 31st, which is where we scrimmage against our selves and have some fun contest for students and fans, so make sure you make it out to the Gold Dome before you go trick-or-treating. And our home opener is November 6th against LSUS, so don't miss it!

Aight everybody, I have to get to class. So, have a good week and have fun doing what you do! I'm out!

ps- Has anyone seen any good movies lately? I went to the movie theater twice last week, I saw The Kingdom and The Assassination of Jesse James. The Kingdom (which I thought would be awful) was a good movie with a great ending. And Jesse James (which i thought would be amazing) had a good story, but it was not at all entertaining (but Brad Pitt does a phenomenal acting job once again). So just a heads up about what's on the big screen. "We Own the Night" is coming out on Friday so I might go see that. But if you've seen anything good or bad, let me know! Later!
