Fall Break

How's it going everybody? I know it's been a while since I've written an entry, but I've been crazy busy with school and basketball. Hope everyone is having a great fall, because I know I am. So, Fall Break has come and gone here at Centenary, and after the short break, it's time to get back to work; but, first I'll talk a little bit about my Fall Break.

First, I did well on all my mid-terms, so all my studying paid off, and it made that five day vacation feel even better. Unfortunately this break didn't take me away from campus. Because of basketball practice, we had to stay here at school over the break; just goes to show, college sports require a lot of extra work, and I hope it pays off for us this year. Even though I stayed at Centenary, I still managed to have a relaxing break while I wasn't practicing. I got to see two movies, "We Own the Night," and "Gone Baby Gone," but we can talk about those in a minute. On Saturday I did get to go home right after practice, but I came back Sunday afternoon; a six hour drive and only 18 hours at home!!!! But it was worth it! I went home Saturday night because of my cousin's wedding. Although I missed the wedding ceremony because of some crazy backed-up traffic on I-20, I still made it in time for the reception. I had a great time dancing it up for the rest of the night, and it was great to see all of my family one last time before season gets underway; because when games starts up, my chances to go home are very limited! After the reception I got the chance to hangout with my mom, dad, and two brothers, Jared (20, University of Texas) and Dalton (16, L.D. Bell High School).

Once Fall Break was over, hit was time to hit the books once again; and it was time for the intramural flag football play-offs! The Choir ended the regular season at 6-1, which was good enough to get 2nd place in the play-off bracket. Last Monday we had a first round game against the KA fraternity, and because they didn't show up to the game, we moved on to the semifinals without having to play. But Tuesday night is where our great season came to a close, as we lost 52-26 to the KE fraternity. But, it was a fun season and we had a good run. If you're looking to come to school here next year (or go to school here but didn't play intramurals this year) I hope you get the opportunity to play, because it's tons of fun and a great way to meet your fellow classmates.

And now for my favorite part....movies! Ok so if you haven't seen it, "We Own the Night" is a good movie, worth seeing once. It has great acting, but the plot is a little too predictable, but over all I would say it's worth seeing once. "Gone Baby Gone" on the other is a GREAT film with terrific acting from Casey Affleck. I've already seen this movie three times in the past two weeks and would go see it again if asked! I would recommend this move to anyone over the age of 18 (the language is very strong due to the setting of the movie, so be mindful of that).

Well everyone, I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it! And if you have any feedback, just send it in; I'm very interested in hearing what you think. Stay safe, until next time.
