Midterms Again!
Well once again its midterm time here at Centenary College, and already taking 3 midterms this week, I realize that I dread midterms more than finals. This whole week has been torture for me, studying late every night to prepare for a new midterm each, while practicing in the morning, and preparing for a debate forum. It's just been nuts. But the worst thing about it is, I know it's not over, because next week is another week of school, and thus, I have to start all over again. That's why finals are better than midterms, the tests are just as hard, but once those finals are over, so is the school year. And once you finish finals you can sleep the rest of the summer if you want. But not with midterms, no matter how much I exhaust myself this week, I still have to wake up next Monday to go to class. With all that said, I have one more midterm tomorrow in geology, so wish me luck!
As for round 2 of the debate forum, it went down Monday night! Actually it didn't raise the heated banter I expected to, but overall I think it was a great exercise in sharing opposing views in an orderly manner. At times during the night some of the questions and responses veered off the path, but for the most part the arguments stayed on topic. If you attend the forum, I would like to thank you for supporting the activity and I appreciate your interest in the subject. If you did not get to attend either of the forum presentations, you can still read the articles (from Dr. Wielenberg, and the response articles of both myself and Jason Blilie) online at http://www.theccconglomerate.com. Also you can respond to the articles if you feel lead to. Some responses have already generated some good and interesting discussions.
Next, the men's basketball regular season has come to a close, but this Saturday we play Oral Roberts University in the opening round of our conference tournament. It's do or die time for the Gents. If we lose, we come home and our season is at an end, but if we win we keep playing until we lose or win a national championship. It's all about survival now. So wish us luck as we go play this weekend. And if you're a prospective student living in Tulsa and you would like to come to the game, it is at Union High School in Tulsa at 7pm on Saturday night. Or if you go to Centenary and want to make a road trip, we could definitely use the fan support. I'm not sure how much the tickets cost, but they shouldn't be that much. Call the school and maybe they can hook you up with some tickets, if not I'm sure the tickets won't be that expensive.
Well that is all I have for this week, not to much exciting stuff going on, at least not for me, because I've become a hermit in my room and buried my head into my books so I can get through midterms! I'll have more for you next week, but until then, stay safe!
ps - I did get the chance to see one movie over the last week (so I took a study break, sue me!) and it was a terrific film. the movie was Donnie Darko, it was advised to me by several of my close friends who I trust on film choices, and I finally got to see it. It wa a well written story that holds your attention the entire movie, and the plot is very think. I understood the main plot of the film, but there was a lot of other elements of the movie that I did not understand the first time, but I cannot wait until I get to go back and watch it again. It is a very strange and interesting movie, that I would advise every college student to watch. I also saw American Beauty (I watched this on a road trip, while I probably should have been studying), it was a great movie and I see why it won best picture. It was a great story looking at the troubles facing the average American family, and all the characters felt so real and connect to its viewing audience. It had some dark, dry and sarcastic humor, mainly in the role of Kevin Spacey's charater, which was absolutely hilarious. Once again I would only advise this movie to my college peers. But I think these are two movies anyone on this campus would enjoy.
