Christian-Muslim Relations

February 28, 29 and March 1, 2008 the Christian Leadership Center at Centenary College of Louisiana will host an interfaith symposium on Muslim and Christian relations. The event will feature lectures, workshops, and panel discussions and will conclude with a Middle Eastern meal prepared by members of the local Muslim community. Dr. Peter Huff, T. L. James Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Centenary and author of What Are They Saying About Fundamentalisms? (Paulist Press), will speak on “The Muslim-Christian Encounter: Past, Present, and Future.” Special Guest, Dr. Osvaldo Vena, Associate Professor of New Testament at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, will perform a “peace concert” featuring his own compositions based on poems by children in the Middle East. Dr. Vena will be accompanied during the concert by Centenary student-musicians. Proceeds from the concert and CD sales will benefit children’s education in at-risk areas of the world.
