Courses

The Department of English at Centenary offers a curriculum emphasizing both the craft of writing and the study of literature (American, British, and other traditions) along with the related areas of language, communication, and film. Course topics include advanced composition, women writers, medieval literature, grammar, film studies, the post-colonial novel, creative writing, and literary criticism.

The capstone senior seminar provides our majors a special opportunity to work closely with a professor on some scholarly project while making connections between coursework and future plans. These students staff the Centenary Writing Lab, lead discussions in first-year classes, and produce writing that prepares them for graduate school and professional life.
