Academic Scholarships for 2010-2011
To be eligible for the Trustee's, Dean's, or President's Scholarship, the student must submit an admissions application by one of the posted deadlines: Early Action, December 15th; or Regular Decision, February 15th. For these same scholarships, the SAT exam must have been taken on or before January 23, 2010 and the ACT exam on or before February 6, 2010. The last date mid-year high school transcipts may be submitted for academic scholarship consideration is March 1, 2010.
The writing portion of the ACT is not used when determining the composite score. Only the critical reading and math scores are used to determine the SAT composite score.
Only first year students are considered for the scholarships listed here. Separate scholarships are available to transfer students.
Academic Award
Consideration is given to a student's high school curriculum, weighted core grade point average, class rank, and standardized test scores. Amounts range from $5,000 to $12,000 per year and are typically awarded to students who may not qualify for any of the named academic scholarships outlined below.
Trustee's Scholarship
$9,000 awarded annually to students who rank in the top 40% of their class or have a weighted core grade point average of 3.25. Recipients must have completed at least 17 core units and have an ACT of 24 or SAT of 1100.
This scholarship will be automatically renewed for an additional three years as long as the recipient maintains full-time status and a 2.5 grade point average.
Dean's Scholarship
$12,000 awarded annually to students who rank in the top 25% of their class or have a weighted core grade point average of 3.5. Recipients must have completed at least 17 core units and have an ACT of 26 or SAT of 1170.
This scholarship will be automatically renewed for an additional three years as long as the recipient maintains full-time status and a 2.5 grade point average.
President's Scholarship
$14,000 awarded annually to students who rank in the top 20% of their class or have a weighted core grade point average of 3.8. Recipients must have completed at least 17 core units and have an ACT of 27 or SAT of 1210.
This scholarship will be automatically renewed for an additional three years as long as the recipient maintains full-time status and a 3.0 grade point average.
1825 Scholars Award
$16,500 awarded annually to candidates based on their application to the college. Consideration will be given to strength of high school curriculum; essay; core grade point average; standardized test scores; co-curricular activities; and leadership and service roles. Recipients are selected by the Admissions Office from the pool of President's scholars.
This scholarship will be automatically renewed for an additional three years as long as the recipient maintains full-time status and maintains a 3.0 grade point average.
Nancy M. Christian Scholarship
Cost of tuition, general student fees, room, and board awarded annually to up to five (5) first year students. No more than five (5) Nancy M. Christian Scholarships are awarded annually.

Scholars Weekend 2010
Forty students will be invited to Scholars Weekend, February 5th and 6th, 2010. A variety of scholarships, including the Nancy M. Christian Scholarship, will be awarded at the conclusion of the weekend. Students will participate in two interviews with Centenary faculty, students, and alumni. All students who attend Scholars Weekend will be awarded additional scholarship dollars, ranging from $1000 to the Nancy M. Christian scholarship. Consideration will be given to academic achievement, co-curricular and leadership activities, as well as performance during the interviews.
Applications and supporting documents for Scholars Weekend must be submitted by December 15, 2009.
