Procedure for Hiring Temporary Staff

To establish and communicate the College procedures for filling temporary positions.
When it becomes necessary to fill a staff position on a temporary basis it is critical that certain procedures be followed to not only comply with external regulations but to ensure necessary internal procedures be followed. The Office of Finance and Administration must be notified of a departmentís intention to fill a temporary assignment and they will assist departments in following the proper procedures.
The following procedures must be followed in filling staff positions on a temporary basis before the employee is hired:
1. Standard employment application must be obtained from applicants.
2. Release of Personal Information Form must be signed by the applicant and a background investigation must be
made by the Public Safety Office.
3. Federal I-9 must be obtained and other tax documents must be completed.
4. The job classification and starting salary must be approved by the Vice President for Finance and Administration.
The Office of Finance and Administration is available to assist departments in complying with the above process.
Individual contractual arrangements must be approved in advance by the Vice President for Finance and Administration.
