Wireless Access

Centenary has standardized wireless access with the 802.11 a, b/g protocol (WiFi). This standard is the default standard for most laptop computers and Wi-Fi certified add-on cards.

Wireless is now available in 85% of the classrooms, in the SUB, and outside in front of the SUB.

Your wireless connection is secured and controlled by an appliance that recognizes your email username. This makes the wireless network available to any Centenary student, employee, or faculty member with an email account.

To access our wireless, turn on your wireless card or internal wireless and check for available wireless networks. The SSID is "Centenary Wireless." Once you've located the wireless network nearest you, choose connect. You may get a message stating that the connection is unsecure, choose to connect anyway. Open Internet Explorer and you will get a message stating your are connecting to a secure site, click yes and enter your username and password. Your username is the first part of your email address, do not include "@centenary.edu", enter submit and you will connect to your home page.

For more details or questions about the wireless network please check our FAQ or call the IT department at x5721.
