Archives

The Centenary College Archives were established in order to collect, preserve, and make available to researchers rare books and manuscripts relating to the history of Centenary College of Louisiana, the United Methodist Church in Louisiana, and to the history of North Louisiana.

The Archives serve as the official repository for the historic records of Centenary College, the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church, and the North Louisiana Historical Association. The Archives also house the College’s rare book collection, various manuscript collections, special collections of authors Jack London and John William Corrington, and other materials of historical interest pertaining to the South, to Louisiana, and to Methodism.

The chief function of the Archives is to preserve and maintain the materials already in its possession, and to incorporate new acquisitions into its holdings. The Archives staff is pleased to consult with researchers and assist them in using the collections. As a general rule, however, the Archives staff does not conduct extensive research for patrons. (Please see the "Using the Archives" section for exceptions to this policy.)

The Archives are supported by funds from the College and the Commission on Archives and History of the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. Contributions from other sources are also appreciated.
