Retrieving Attic Storage, Archive, or Law Room Materials
Attic Storage
Attic Storage houses the older periodical materials and short runs of journal titles that are used infrequently.
A record of the journal titles and volumes that are stored can be found in the back of the Journals Holdings Notebook, available at the Circulation Desk.
A request for attic journals can be made at the Circulation Desk. There is a form to fill out to request a specific volume or volumes. Depending on staffing available, the volume or volumes will be brought to the Circulation Desk within 24 hours or sometimes-same day service will be offered. Check with the Circulation Department Librarian for more information.
Cline Room (Archives)
Centenary and non-Centenary patrons interested in doing research must make an appointment with an archives staff member to arrange a time to use materials. The initial contact must be via phone, using ext. 5462. If a staff member does not pick up, a message should be left on the voice mail.
In order to effectively preserve and maintain it archival holdings, the Cline Room Collections archives center maintains a closed-stacks policy.
Materials in the Archives may be used only when an archives staff member is present. Materials will be provided at the Circulation Desk and must be used within sight of that desk. If Archives staff deems a material too delicate to photocopy, only notes may be taken by the researcher.
All personal belongings may be subject to inspection when the researcher returns Archives materials.
A researcher is responsible for the safeguarding of any materials made available to him. Manuscripts must be handled with great care, that no extra marks or stains be made to them.
Permission to examine Archive materials is not an authorization to publish them. Researcher must check with the Archives staff.
Law Room Materials
The law books and law journals in the Law Room do not circulate. The materials from this room are cataloged and can be located by using the online catalog, M.O.X.I.E.
Non-Centenary patrons have limited access to the materials in the Law Room. They must request use of specific volumes at the Circulation Desk. The number of volumes retrieved will be limited to no more than three. The volumes must be used by the patron within sight of the Circulation Desk.
Weekend access to the Law Room is restricted to faculty members and/or Centenary students enrolled in a class in History, Political Science, or Sociology. A Circulation Staff member will escort these patrons to the Law Room but they must egress via the side basement doors of the library. The library basement is locked to internal access on the weekend.
