We've got several major events coming up during the Fall term — Greek Recruitment and the Parents & Family Weekend — as well as more big events throughout the year. We look forward to this being a great semester and we hope that all of you will be able to join us!

Students will have the opportunity to learn more about Greek Life on campus by participating in Greek Recruitment during the second week of the Fall Semester. Students will have the chance to visit each of the chapter houses, mingle with the members of each chapter, and make some great friends also participating in the recruitment process. Recruitment is a great way to meet people, even if you don’t think Fraternity and Sorority Life is for you.

This weekend is a great opportunity for parents to experience their student’s life at Centenary. Students also appreciate the off-campus meals that a parent’s visit can include. There will be opportunities to cheer on the Centenary athletic teams, be serenaded by the Centenary College Choir, and learn some helpful tips from members of the campus. If the prospect of hanging out with your student appeals to you, there will be plenty of time for that as well.

In past years, The Big Event has been a huge success for both the Centenary Community and for the adjacent Highland Neighborhood. With the help of many of you, this student led initiative has grown to be an important part of life at Centenary. Centenary staff, faculty, and students come together to help the surrounding community by cleaning yards, painting houses, and assisting in whatever way we can.

For those of you who day dream of going to school at Hogwarts and visiting Diagon Alley, you will not want to miss participating in the Quidditch Tournament on Jones-Rice Field. Quidditch has been popping up on college campuses across the nation, including Centenary. We have bludgers, quaffles, and even a snitch. Even though we can't fly, we make up for it in our enthusiasm.
