1971

Sara Casey Watts, Plano, Texas, has a private practice as a licensed professional counselor. Sara has been a marriage and family therapist for the past 26 years in the North Dallas area.

1973

Jeffrey Daiell, Houston, Texas, delivered his presentation, “A Fireplace of Brick and Not of Paper: Respecting Constitutional Limits,” on May 16 in San Antonio, Texas. This was his second compensated speech as he attempts to launch a side career as a professional writer, speaker, editor and emcee.

1974

Shirley Miller Watts, River Ridge, La., is a seventh- and eighth-grade language arts teacher at John Curtis Christian School in the New Orleans area. Shirley will begin her 32nd year of teaching this fall.

1975

Megan Conway, Shreveport, La., professor of French at LSUS, presented a paper, “Physical Space, Narrative Space, Emotional Space: Locating Love in Helisenne de Crenne’s Les Angoysses,” at the international Exploring the Renaissance Conference in Houston. She also served on the conference board. Further pursuing her interests in the French Renaissance, she attended the Renaissance Society of America meeting in San Fransisco where she met with several authors contributing to the 16th Century French Writers volume she is editing for the Dictionary of Literary Biography series. She also presented a paper on her 18th century research at the American Society for Eighteenth Century Studies in Montreal in which she discussed Olympe de Gouges, the first female-authored French anti-slavery play (1786).

David Olson, Wheaton, Ill., is the owner/general manager of The Power Equipment Co. in Cortland, Ill.

1977

Leah Ades Cooper, Jefferson, Texas, and husband Robert are proud to announce the graduation of their oldest daughter, Megan, from the U.S. Air Force Academy this May. After a year of “casual duty” at Edwards Air Force Base, she will begin flight training at Columbus AFB in Mississippi. Their younger daughter, Rebecca, just completed her first year at Yale University.

Bill Zeller, Shreveport, La., graduated from the Army War College on June 10 and is being assigned as the Operations Officer of 3rd Corps Support Command in Wiesbaden, Germany. The unit is currently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Bill won the Army War College Writing Award for Logistics and Research.

1978

Nancy Cooper, Missoula, Mont., presented an organ recital as part of the St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral “Great Masterpiece Series,” on March 26. Marshall Taylor ’79 flew down from New York City for the event. Also in attendance were some of Nancy’s teachers and advisers from way back when: Bill Teague, Ron Dean, Earle Labor H’90 and Lee Morgan H’96.

Mary Jo Pleasant Gardere, Dallas, Texas, teaches kindergarten through sixth-grade art classes at Eladio R. Martinez Learning Center, Dallas ISD. Mary Jo completed her master’s in education in the spring of 2005 at Texas A&M Commerce and plans to start her doctorate this fall.
