Why Choose a Methodist College?
August 2006
Name: Valerie Olson Robideaux, Class of ’03
Major: Religious Studies (Christian Education)
Home Church: First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, LA
She isn’t your ordinary teacher. Valerie is a Christian educator, and a good one at that. Working as the Women’s Discipleship Associate at Northside United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Ga. and attending Candler School of Theology for her master’s of divinity degree, Valerie credits the superior preparation of a Centenary education for her success so far. She plans to soon return to the Louisiana United Methodist Conference as an ordained deacon serving in the area of Christian education. With a passion for people and a tenderness toward family (did you know she and her husband are expecting their first child!?), Valerie’s ministry goes beyond curriculum planning and programming. She is grounded in
relationship-building, a valuable skill she learned within the Centenary community and beyond.
"Centenary continues to mean more to me with every year that passes. My Centenary education prepared me for my graduate theological coursework and vocational pursuits by fusing the theoretical and the practical. Plus, I have a heart full of memories and supportive friends to last a lifetime." –VR
