FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (6/96)
Alumni and friends of the College are invited to join the Centenary Alumni Association for an insightful, educational, and memorable trip to Mainland China.
This multi-dimensional trip, scheduled for late May, 1997, will take travelers beyond the special tourist sights to an insider's look at the changing culture of this ancient, but vigorous country.
Visits to places such as Shanghai's Pudong, Beijing's Tiananmen Square, Xian's terra cotta soldiers, and Hangzhou's farmlands will be enriched with talks by Chinese scholars and professionals. There will be opportunities to see how the Chinese really live...by visiting a farmer's home, shopping in a non-government department store, touring an elementary school, or visiting a commune.
Dr. Barrie Richardson, dean of the Frost School of Business, and Janie Flournoy '72, director of special gifts, will lead the trip.
Cost of the two-week trip will be approximately $4,200 - $4,500, based on double occupancy, and will include roundtrip airfare from Shreveport, accommodations at four- and five-star hotels, all meals, and all transportation and fees in China. The fee will also include a contribution to the Student Travel Fund Endowment at Centenary.
Spaces are limited. For more information, please contact Janie Flournoy at 318/869-5103, 1/800-259-6447 or write to her at Centenary College, P.O. Box 41188, Shreveport, LA 71134-1188.
