SHREVEPORT, LA--Networking, improving leadership skills and producing collective and individual inspiration for the good of the community--these are the goals of the annual Leadership Conference at Centenary College. The ninth annual conference, sponsored by the Frost Foundation, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 4 in Centenary's Kilpatrick Auditorium.
Seventy specially invited participants will spend the morning in workshops conducted by Dr. Robert Brewer, adjunct professor in Centenary's Executive MBA program and a nationally known trainer and motivational speaker.
Following the workshop, some 80 program graduates from the past eight years will join the group for the annual Leadership Reunion Luncheon at noon in Bynum Commons' South Dining Hall.Examples of accomplishments by past conference participants will be highlighted at the luncheon. Community programs started or enhanced by Leadership Conference participants include the Red River Hot Air Balloon Rally, local offerings of Habitat for Humanity, SciPort Discovery Center, Grace Home, local Weed and Seed programs, a statewide literacy program and a Boot Camp for juvenile offenders.
The conference offers "a wonderful opportunity for Centenary College to give leadership to the area of leadership," said Dr. Barrie Richardson, dean of the Frost School of Business. "We have over 500 diverse graduates and scores of successful projects. The Leadership Conference provides the lever that encourages and inspires people to make a contribution to others."
