SHREVEPORT, LA -- Dinner and dancing in and around the Hargrove Memorial Bandshell will help "shell-a-brate" the recent facelift the facility has undergone, thanks to the efforts of a Centenary class.
Students in Dr. Barrie Richardson's Human Relations class adopted the Hargrove Bandshell this semester as their class project. After untold hours of cleaning, painting and refurbishing, they will get a chance to celebrate at the "Shell-a-bration" that is set for 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27.
In addition to food, music and dance, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held. Among special guests will be Bill Causey Sr., who directed band concerts in the Bandshell for more than 40 years.
Dignitaries will also include members of the family of Reginald Henry Hargrove, for whom the Bandshell is named. These include the late Mr. Hargrove's son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Marion Hargrove of Houston, Texas, and several other daughters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The project is supported by several individuals and organizations, including the Centenary Muses and the Women's Endowment Quorum.
