SHREVEPORT, LA--The first drive-by book donation day for the next Friends of Centenary Book Bazaar will be held Friday, April 9.
Volunteers will be on hand that day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 145 Wilkinson, the blue house east of the tennis courts at the intersection of Wilkinson Street and Centenary Boulevard. They will assist donors with their books, records, CDs, tapes and videos that will, in turn, be sold at the Sept. 10-11 benefit event.
Organizers are seeking old and new books in both hardback and paperback, except for National Geographics and Readers' Digest, which can no longer be taken.
Those wishing to donate books at times other than the monthly drive-by days can leave their books on the porch or in the waterproof bins at the "Book House" any time, organizers said. Those with large donations that need to be picked up are asked to call Centenary's Office of Special Gifts at 869-5103.
The 13th annual Friends of Centenary Book Bazaar will be held in the Gold Dome. The sale, which draws thousands of shoppers, is expected to offer more than 40,000 books at bargain prices.
