Centenary Opera Workshop to Offer Fall Scenes Oct. 25 and 26
SHREVEPORT, LA —Centenary College’s Opera Workshop class will offer its fall scenes program on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. Performances will be in the Anderson Auditorium at Centenary’s Hurley Music Building. Admission is free and open to the public.
Featuring over 25 singers from Centenary’s music program, the performance will include scenes from musicals set in the 1950s, including Grease, The Most Happy Fella, and Bye, Bye Birdie. There will also be scenes from Into the Woods and from Leonard Bernstein’s short opera about life in suburbia, Trouble in Tahiti.
The program is directed by Dr. Gale Odom, dean of the Hurley School
of Music. The accompanist/coach for Opera Workshop is Cathy DeRousse.
