Outstanding Students Earn Prestigious Scholarships at Centenary College of Louisiana

SHREVEPORT, LA – A total of 123 incoming students from eight states and three countries are the recipients of top scholarships at Centenary College of Louisiana effective with the 2004-05 academic year.

Nancy Christian Endowed Scholarships
Four students earned Nancy Christian Endowed Scholarships, Centenary’s highest academic award, which recognizes scholarship, leadership and service.
They are Lacey Dawn Anderson of Bossier City, a graduate of Haughton High School; Lisa Marie Butler of Longview, Texas, a Pine Tree High School graduate; Abigail Grace Moffett of Mountain View, Ark., and Mountain View High School; and Laura Jane Pryor of Baton Rouge, a Dunham School graduate.

The Nancy Christian Scholarships cover tuition, fees, room and board for four years.

White Endowed Music Scholarship
Adam Philley of Monterey, La., Monterey High School, earned the Hurley School of Music’s highest scholarship. He will receive the A.P. and Mary C. White Endowed Scholarship, which is presented to an outstanding and worthy music student. That scholarship also covers tuition, fees, room and board for four years.

Centenary/TOPS Scholarships
Thirty-eight students from Louisiana will receive full-tuition scholarships, in conjunction with the highest Tuition Opportunity Program for Students scholarships of the state of Louisiana. By hometowns, Centenary/TOPS scholars are:

Presidential Scholarships
In addition, 63 high school students from eight states and two other countries are this year’s recipients of Presidential Scholarships at Centenary. The awards recognize academic excellence and are renewable for four years provided the recipient maintains at least a 3.0 grade point average.
