Shreveport Newspaper Features Artist Ron Rice (Class of 1954), 31 Caricatures of Admissions Representatives
SHREVEPORT, LA — "Centenary College's colorful personalities captured in caricatures" is the title of a feature article in The (Shreveport) Times today (Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004).
Featured are Ron Rice, well-known local artist and Centenary alumnus of the Class of 1954, along with several members of the Office of Admissions, whose caricatures are among the 31 that now grace the entry to the Admissions Office.
The article by Alexandyr Kent of The Times staff quotes Tim Crowley, director of admissions, as wanting to do something to strengthen team spirit and lighten up the atmosphere in the office.
Rice calls the drawings "personality portraits" and spends a considerable time researching each subject's personality and interests. His work is also on display in the Centenary Gold Dome, which has a collection of his drawings of members of the Athletic Hall of Fame.
The Times article ran on the front of the Living section. In addition to a photo of Rice in front of the wall of caricatures, it also included photos of Crowley; Deborah Scarlato and Janet Ingram, data specialists; and Rolin Moe and Lisa Rauschenbach, admissions counselors, all pictured with their caricatures.
The article and Rice photo are on line at http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041130/LIVING/411300301/1004 for the coming seven days.
