Hurley School of Music Students to Perform Upcoming Spring Recitals

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College students will present several musical performances boasting a wide variety of styles and instrumentation. Among upcoming offerings, students will perform both secular and sacred selections featuring organ, horn, trumpet, bassoon, violin and voice.

The recital schedule is as follows:
Thursday, April 28
7 p.m.
Brown Chapel
Sophomore organ performance major, Shannon Gallier, will present a solo recital of organ music.

8 p.m.
Anderson Auditorium
Brian White, a music theory and composition major, will present his senior recital featuring his own compositions performed by Centenary students Carrie Collins, Daniel Ley, Katie McKee, David Pennywell, Kenneth Portis, Holly Richardson, Robert Schaumburg and John Walsh. In addition, White will perform horn pieces by Paul Hindemith and Franz Strauss.

Friday, April 29
7:30 p.m.
Anderson Auditorium
Jeremy DeLaCerda and Kenneth Portis, trumpet performance majors, will present their junior recital.

Saturday, April 30
6 p.m.
Anderson Auditorium
Sarah Kate Ross, soprano, will present her senior recital. Ross is a Mary C. White scholar, Hurley's highest scholarship honor, and will continue her vocal training as a graduate student at New York University next fall.

Sunday, May 1
2 p.m.
Anderson Auditorium
Devon Schmidt, a bassoon performance major, will present his senior recital. Schmidt was a winner in this year's Concerto/Aria Competition and has been featured in a number of Hurley Orchestra and Wind Ensemble concerts.

4:30 p.m.
Carruth Choir Room in Anderson Choral Building
Sacred Music major Zachary Ingrim will present his senior recital.

8 p.m.
Anderson Auditorium
Senior Andrew Mai will present a violin recital. Although Mai will be graduating with a B.S. in biology, he has been a member of the Hurley Orchestra and chamber music ensembles throughout his Centenary career. Next year he will begin medical school.
