Centenary's Pre-Med Society to Host Panel Discussion on U.S. Healthcare with Dr. Juan Watkins
SHREVEPORT, LA— The Pre-Medical Society of Centenary College and guest panelist W. Juan Watkins, M.D. will discuss the state of healthcare in America on Monday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Mickle Hall of Science, Room 209.
Dr. Watkins, a well-respected ear, nose and throat physician, will shed light on issues of health insurance and government healthcare spending, examining proposals for reforming the system. He will contribute his medical expertise to this controversial discussion.
In addition to being a 32-year member of the Centenary College Board of Trustees, 1957 Centenary graduate, former Centenary College Choir member, and member of the Centenary College Alumni Hall of Fame, Dr. Watkins is a member of the American Medical Association, the Shreveport Medical Society and the American Board of Otolaryngology. In 1998, he received the Clyde E. Fant Memorial Award for Outstanding Community Service. Dr. Watkins and his family are members at Noel Memorial United Methodist Church.
Centenary alumnus Dr. H. Whitney Boggs, '48, who is a retired surgeon, plans to attend as a member of the audience, along with other healthcare professionals.
