Centenary Hosts Huey P. Long Biographer on Sept. 23-25 for "One City, One Book: Shreveport on the Same Page"

Shreveport, LA — Huey P. Long biographer and LSU Professor Dr. Richard D. White, Jr., will visit Shreveport on Sept. 23 and 24 and give public lectures about his book 'Kingfish: The Reign of Huey P. Long.' His visit is sponsored by Centenary College, partnering with Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover and Shreve Memorial Library for the third annual "One City, One Book: Shreveport on the Same Page" initiative.

Dr. White will discuss Huey P. Long's governorship and the process of writing Long's story at two free public events on Monday, Sept. 24: 10 a.m. at Shreve Memorial Library's Hamilton South Caddo Branch (2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop) and 7 p.m. at Anderson Auditorium in the Hurley Music Building at Centenary College. Mayor Glover will be part of the Monday night presentation. The entire city of Shreveport is invited to read Dr. White's book and hear him speak as part of this month-long program designed to promote literacy and the joy of reading in our community.
