Christian Activist Shane Claiborne Visits Centenary
Shreveport, LA — On November 8 and 9, Shane Claiborne will speak at Centenary College and Grace Community United Methodist Church on issues of social action and Christian witness. Shane Claiborne, a noted Christian activist, public speaker and author of The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical, will share from his experiences working among the poor and homeless across the world.
In three events sponsored by the Christian Leadership Center at Centenary College, Shane will use biblical principles to inspire responsible community-based activity benefiting the less privileged and the environment.
- Thursday, Nov. 8, from 11:10 am to noon, in Centenary's Brown Chapel, Shane will speak on social action and the Christian witness. This talk is free and open to the public.
- Friday, Nov. 9, from 11 am to 1 pm, lunch at Grace Community United Methodist Church. Cost is $25, lunch provided by Earthereal Restaurant. Registration required.
- Friday, Nov. 9, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm, Shane will lead an evening rally on "Loving Radically," also featuring The Mark Sorensen Band at Grace Community United Methodist Church. Cost: $10 (or $5 with a student ID). Guests welcomed at the door.
Youth and young adults often resonate with Shane Claiborne's message, though people of any age who are concerned with social justice and the environment as well as how the Christian faith influences these issues will benefit from his words, example, and inspiration.
