Centenary College's Centennial Kick-Off Dinner

Dr. Lee Morgan, Emeritus Professor of English and Historian of the College, was featured as the guest speaker. Morgan began teaching at the College in 1954 and after 46 years, retired in 1999. Now “officially retired” he has spent the last seven years writing the history of the College from 1825 through 2000, a project that he has just completed. He took guests on a walk down the historical path and provided many insights on the history of the College.

Other speakers included Dr. Kenneth L. Schwab, President of Centenary College and Dr. Kathy Fell, Vice President of Development. Entertainment was provided by the Centenary Chorale under the direction of Dr. Julia Thorn and accompanied by Cathy DeRousse.

“This is an exciting time for Shreveport-Bossier and Centenary College,” said Dr. Schwab. “We are proud of the College and how we have grown with the community. During this year we are going to honor or traditions and history, but also launch into our future…our next 100 years.”

We invite you to celebrate with us this year. For a list of complete events, check out the Centennial schedule.
