Auction To Benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Louisiana
SHREVEPORT, La. — The Iota Gamma chapter of Chi Omega at Centenary College will hold their 8th Annual Auction, "The Power of a Wish," Saturday, Nov. 14 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Louisiana.
The event will be held in the Haynes Gymnasium of Centenary’s Fitness Center from 4 until 6 p.m. and will include a live and silent auction, "Super Heroes," music and great food. The cost to attend the event is $5 and is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or in advance from a Chi Omega on campus.
This year's auction items include household products, gift baskets, art works, assorted jewelry, Christmas items, and much more. Patrons will be able to find an item for just about anyone, with low starting prices.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is the national charity of the Chi Omega Fraternity. "Iota Gamma is excited to be part of the Make-A-Wish family and looks forward to meeting our goal of raising $10,000 in hopes of being able to grant wishes," said Katie Barker, Chi Omega chapter Community Service Director. "By supporting our auction, people are supporting children of the local area, and truly providing POWER to make dreams come true."
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Founded in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is now the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 65 chapters in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 25,000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish every 40 minutes and has granted more than 185,000 wishes in the United States since its inception.
