Reel Revolutions takes place October 12-14 at RFC

SHREVEPORT, La. (Centenary News Service) — Three nights of Mexican cinema and events highlight Reel Revolutions: a Mexican Mini-Film Festival October 12-14 at the Robinson Film Center.

Reel Revolutions

The event commemorates the 200th anniversary of Mexican independence and the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, and will showcase some of the best of contemporary Mexican cinema.

Mexico has a long and colorful film history and over the past two decades has produced some of the world’s most acclaimed films and filmmakers. Reel Revolutions allows the Shreveport-Bossier community to not only to learn more about Mexican cinema but also publicize Mexico’s long-standing relationship with the United States and honor the local Mexican-American community in Shreveport-Bossier.

All films start at 7:30 p.m. and include:
Tuesday, October 12
La Ley de Herodes (Herod's Law)
Wednesday, October 13
Como Agua Para Chocolate (Like Water For Chocolate)
Thursday, October 14
Solo Con Tu Pareja (Only With Your Partner)

Tickets are $6.75 - $8.75 or $20 for Festival pass. Films are free for Centenary College students with valid ID. An Opening night reception kicks off the event beginning at 6 p.m. Oct. 12. Cost is $10.

The Robinson Film Center is located at 617 Texas Street in downtown Shreveport.

The event is sponsored by the Centenary Film Society; the Department of Ancient and Modern Languages and the Diversity Committee at Centenary College; and the Department of Fine Arts, Foreign Languages and Humanities at LSU-Shreveport.
