SHREVEPORT, La. (Centenary News Service) — A CD release concert by Tetrafusion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Centenary College Amphitheatre. Admission is free.

tetrafusion

Established in 2006, Tetrafusion includes Centenary College music theory/composition major GaryTubbs, lead vocals, keyboards, synths; Brooks Tarkington, electric and acoustic guitars and vocals; Mark Michell, seven-string and fretless bass; and J.C. Bryant, drums and percussion.

Tetrafusion is a Shreveport/Bossier-based progressive metal band signed to Nightmare Records. Tetrafusion’s blend of complex, technical metal with a highly-intellectual melodic structure offers an eclectic brand of progressive rock and metal along the lines of Porcupine Tree, Rush, Dream Theater, Cynic, Tool and Muse.

The band released its self-produced debut record “Absolute Zero” in February 2009, sans vocals, to critical acclaim from the underground music scene and receiving rave reviews from press and new fans worldwide. The album was featured globally on commercial and online radio stations, in review columns and received positive acknowledgment in Germany’s Rock Hard, Decibel and Progression magazines. The album was also hailed as one of the “top albums of the year” by Ultimate-Guitar.com. A year and a half later after independently selling albums in 21 countries, the band signed to Minnesota-based metal label Nightmare Records on Oct. 12 for the worldwide release of its sophomore effort “Altered State.”

This release is the band’s first time to incorporate vocals into its work, as will continue with all future material. The album is being distributed in North America and Canada by Sony/RED Music.
