Hurley School of Music presents Costas Dafnis recital Nov. 4
SHREVEPORT, La. (Centenary News Service) — The Hurley School of Music presents senior Music Composition student, Costas Dafnis, in recital on Thursday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Anderson Auditorium.
Dafnis will present a brief concert of contemporary art music. Selections will be excerpts of Costasí portfolio ranging from his audition to Centenary, to recently completed pieces, in a variety of instrumental and vocal ensemble combinations.
He has received numerous accolades including awards by the National Band Association Young Composer Mentor Project, Centenary College Orchestral Composition Competition, Phoenix Risingís Harvest Celebration Call for Scores, Michigan Honors Composition Concert, Sibeliusmusic.com Chatpage Competition, the Audrey May Smith Endowed Poetry Award, and the Pikeís Peak Young Composerís Contest.
His works have been performed most recently at DeVoss Hall, Saint Sulpice, Riverview Theater, Antwerp Cathedral, Tibbits Opera House, St. Clothilde Basilica, Highland Square, Binda Theatre, and Newark Symphony Hall. Costas has received commissions from numerous ensembles and organizations including the Michigan State SSAA Honors Choir, Duo Petrarca, the Beneít Club Orchestra, Coldwater Cardinal Choir, Phoenix Rising, Mastersingers Inc., Split Dimensions, Hurley Orchestra, KCC Concert Band, and the Centenary College Choir.
