Hurley Orchestra Presents Concert December 6
SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary’s Hurley Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Todd Gabriel, will present a concert on Tuesday, December 6, at 7:30 PM in the Anderson Auditorium. The program is free and open to the community.
The concert will include Bachianas Brasilieras No. 5 by Heiter Villa-Lobos. This famous work for one soprano and eight cellos begins with a wordless vocalise and is Villa-Lobos's most well-known composition. Soprano Gale Odom will be featured in the piece.
The Charter House Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Three Ancient Dances by Joaquin Rodrigo will also be performed.
The Hurley School of Music Orchestra explores standard chamber and symphonic orchestra repertoire, concerto and aria accompaniments and world premier compositions. They perform four concerts annually.
