Lieutenant Eddie Walker honored with David Womack Award

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary President David Rowe has awarded the 2012 David Womack Leadership Award to Lieutenant Eddie Walker, Director of the Department of Public Safety. The award was named in honor of the influential former Dean of Students David Womack who passed away in August 2009.

Each year, the College's cabinet chooses a faculty or staff member who embodies the qualities of Dean Womack, who worked to bring the campus community closer together. Walker was identified as someone who gives attention to working across divisional and departmental lines, to building bridges, and to being intentionally inclusive of all members of the Centenary campus community.

"Communication is vital to Centenary because it enables us to utilize the resources of the College to develop future leaders," said Walker. "I am fortunate to interact with people across campus, and I look forward to continuing these relationships and developing new ones."

A Shreveport native, Walker has been a member of the Centenary family since 2004. Prior to his arrival, he served the Shreveport Police Department for seven years.

Walker is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Department of Public Safety. His specialized training includes campus emergency response training, customer service, martial arts, and marksmanship.
